Das Château Hôtel Grand Barrail, das sich seit 2019 im Besitz der Familie Guillard befindet, zählt zu den luxuriösen Adressen in Saint-Émilion.
Das von einem 7 Hektar großen Park umgebene Château Hôtel Grand Barrail***** ist das einzige Hotel, das im 19. Jahrhundert am rechten Ufer von Bordeaux erbaut wurde. Die auf das Schloss und seine Nebengebäude verteilten Zimmer sind wie luxuriöse Schmuckkästchen. Während das Äußere des Schlosses erhalten blieb, wurden die Inneneinrichtung, das Restaurant, der Empfang und die Bar vom Architekten Jean-Philippe Nuel völlig neu gestaltet und die 37 Zimmer im Außenbereich 2023 komplett renoviert.

We stayed for dinner one night and that was also fantastic - you just need to book ahead of time (people in other reviews seem to have forgotten the simple art of “booking a reservation”, which is… common everywhere).
We had a perfect stay here - don’t hesitate.
Breakfast : Decent, few options and a bit disappointing for a 5 star hotel. We waited 20 mins to get coffee and then eggs we ordered we thought we are the only ones but turns out other people had the same issue
Lunch : don’t even know where to start, first we were standing there waiting to get someone to talk to instead of interrupting them during their service, they completely ignored us. Second, we showed up way before service ends, gently asking for a table turns out that we couldn’t get a table because we didn’t book ahead. However, we are able to get snacking menu, fine, let’s order. It wasn’t possible before we were there during lunch time ( we can’t order lunch ) but we cannot order snacking food either because we can only order starting from 2pm ( we tried to order at 1:56 ).
Room service : we kept calling so many times to get some food but it was very hard to get someone answer the call until we called reception. On top of that we had to wait for almost an hour ( yes 1Hour ) for the simple salade and pasta !
Reception/ check in, Housekeeping, Spa, very friendly and very efficient.
I had high hopes about this place and compared it to where my other friends are staying ( Hotel De Pavie ) turns out, this place has a lot of catch in terms of quality service to reach the same level. It’s a shame because the location and the hotel are quite charming.
Le cadre est magnifique, le personne est très gentil et professionnel.
Les plats étaient excellents, la formule a 42€ est un excellent rapport qualité prix.
