Very poor customer service! It is chaotic and they dont make you feel good here! What I didn't like was that there was no instructions about getting a ticket before going to the line so we waited so long until the manager told us to go get a ticket. And she was not nice about it. I felt I was discriminated against because I'm not a white lady. Also, too expensive for the amount of food they offer. Won't recommend this place!

Service was utterly appalling, especially when you're left to fend for yourself.

After placing an order, you're abruptly confronted with a non-negotiable 25% tip automatically added to your bill, leaving no room for choice.

I won't be returning, and I strongly advise anyone enamored with this establishment to reconsider, especially tourists (don't fall for their enticing outdoor seating)!

I was excited to visit this establishment, known for its lively atmosphere and beautiful setting. While the ambiance lived up to its reputation, a very rude encounter with a hostess significantly marred my experience.

After taking a few photos to capture the Sunday mood, I was accosted by the hostess. She claimed it was a violation to photograph employees without their consent and demanded I delete any pictures containing staff. It's important to note that taking photographs in public places is generally legal in Los Angeles. While I understand the intent to protect employee privacy, I wasn't intentionally photographing them. In reality, capturing the overall vibe of a bustling restaurant inevitably includes some employees in the background. There was also no signage indicating a photography policy, and frankly, if the hostess's approach had been respectful, I would have happily complied regardless of the legality.

Most importantly, the hostess's demeanor was extremely rude, accusatory, and threatening. This unprofessional behavior was the most disappointing aspect of the situation. It's baffling that anyone would try to prevent customers from taking photos, or even demand the deletion of photos already taken. Businesses should recognize that customers sharing great photos of the environment is free and effective marketing, ultimately benefiting the establishment itself(this last statement is only my opinion).

Even if there's a gray area regarding photographing employees unintentionally in a public space, there should be a consistent standard for privacy. If capturing employees incidentally is forbidden, shouldn't the same logic apply to the restaurant's surveillance cameras constantly recording patrons? If the logic holds, their cameras shouldn't be taking videos and photos of all customers without their consent, which doesn't make sense. This highlights the absurdity of the hostess's claim and the nonsensical nature of her demand.

This incident underscores the need for clear communication of policies and staff training on customer service. The potential for a positive experience here is high, but unfortunately, it fell short in this instance.

The BEST bread i ever ever ever had !

Attractive and intriguing space, the kitchen and bakery sits behind the service counter so there’s lots to see. Pricey, the menu tells you that, but portions I don’t think portion sizes make up for it. Pastry and bread were both good. Plenty of cabinet items. There’s coffee bar seating and a very large relaxed out door courtyard. Pleasant!

I would like to share my experience of picking up an order (DD).
Guys, stop treating people who deliver your orders to the end consumer with a high regard and respect other people’s time. Today, one employee told me that I should wait for the order as long as necessary, but I didn’t point out that he should do his job in his place and not interfere with recommendations to others.
Set up a program so that people who work with you for the same goal don’t stand for half an hour and don’t wait for one sandwich to be prepared, it’s funny.

I tried several times to pick up an order from your, but you don’t fit into the timing; there is no point or desire to wait more than half an hour.

Best Breakfast Ever.

I have been here many times including when it is super busy and the staff are always happy and helpful. It’s a busy place that feels like a well oiled engine.
The food is great especially the baked goods. Venice prices so nothing shocking for the neighbourhood.
Minimal indoor eating space but the courtyard is nice with flexible seating for large and small groups. I like eating inside when I am alone. Kid friendly.
Not sure about parking since I usually walk.

What an ordeal this experience was. I have been wanting to try this place for a while now and decided to go on a Saturday afternoon which is probably the worst time to go. Their ordering/line system is all out of whack and there are no instructions to get a number first and wait until it’s your turn to order. Everyone is just standing in everybody’s way which creates a cluster. Don’t get me wrong the brisket bahn mi sandwich and croissant are really good but that doesn’t make the whole situation of waiting in line and ordering any better. I don’t know when I will ever come back here.

Excellent Shakshuka!

We didn't have a good experience here when we stopped by for a lunch. It was very busy and seemed unorganized as to how to order and sit. When we finally got our meals they were a disappointment. My rueben was so greasy it was hard to eat and my wife's soup lacked flavor and was luke warm. For the price ($20) for the rueben I expected something much better.

Had the shakshuka. As far as tomatoes, eggs and onions go, it was pretty good. It is definitely not worth the long line over the weekend. The coffee is subpar, and the waiter was basically avoiding eye contact for refills. The outside seating area is pretty relaxed and nice for breakfast. The baklava croissant is recommended.

Tasty best croissants outside of Paris along with delicious bakery items on the express line. Only 1 staff person & you are charged a 15% fee that is not a tip. Bathroom needs a good deep cleaning. No parking in this neighborhood.

One of the best reubens I've ever had. Carrot cake was decent but overpriced.

Update: Brisket banh mi is fire. Tahini croissant is INCREDIBLE (and actually better than the revered baklava croissant).

Really? 2 hours of traffic $108 (with tip) for 2 coffees 2 juices and 2 pretty average sandwiches after a long wait we were sat at the ugly corner in the back. If you really think this is a high standard of living you should try Gaza for you next holiday! Next….

What a shame! One of my favorite cafes in Los Angeles is off my recommended list. The policy of adding automatically 20% gratuity for counter service is outrageous, in and of itself. Admittedly there was a good crowd but if enough people boycott this place out of principle, then maybe they’ll change. Good bye Gjusta. Overpriced and overestimated.

Neighborhood staple! For many, this is the first stop after coming home from the airport. Amazing service, atmosphere & delicious food!
