MAMA SHELTER NICE - LE ROOFTOP

What started as a promising stay at this so-called "4-star luxury hotel" quickly devolved into an absolute nightmare of incompetence and customer service failure.
The experience was tolerable until we discovered our room's refrigerator was not working. We bought a fancy Champagne for my partner's birthday and it was still warm even after 8 hours of refrigeration.
When we reported this basic amenity malfunction to the front desk, we were met with such staggering indifference that I questioned whether the staff had received any training whatsoever. Not only did they refuse to send maintenance or offer a room change, but they couldn't even be bothered to ask our room number. Their "solution"? A dismissive wave toward the restaurant with instructions to "get ice there."
Let me be crystal clear: we are paying premium rates for what Mama Shelter markets as a luxury experience, yet when their substandard equipment fails, they expect paying guests to become their maintenance crew. This is not just unacceptable - it's insulting.
The front desk staff's complete lack of professionalism and problem-solving skills reveals a management culture that has clearly given up on basic hospitality standards. When you're charging luxury prices, guests shouldn't have to hunt down ice because your refrigerators don't work and your staff can't be bothered to care.
Mama Shelter has mastered the art of taking your money while delivering bargain-basement service wrapped in trendy décor. Save yourself the frustration and book literally anywhere else. There are countless hotels that understand what "service" actually means.
Update: the front desk is useless. Every time you need something, they send you to the restaurant. We asked for a wine opener as the rooms are bare bones. Not even water glasses. The restaurant refused to provide a loaner wine opener and told me I needed to go upstairs and bring her the wine to open. Ridiculous. I told the front desk and they simply asked if I wanted her to talk to them. Useless! They should be making it right. Better service at an Ibis.
