Hotel Luna di Marzo is a strategically located hotel if you want to visit 'Cinque Terre'.
It is located in Volastra, so a bit on the hill over Manarola that is really perfect if you want to make use of the many trekkings with breathtaking views of the Cinque Terre natural park.
Given the location, the main feature of the hotel is a really breathtaking view on the bay over Manarola (as you will see from the pics).
I advise arriving by car
Reserved street parking is also available from the hotel (be aware it is not free of charge, though).
The entrance of the hotel is not so easy of you have restricted mobility, but not particularly difficult. Moreover the location offers great privacy and quietness.
Rooms are neat and tidy, but not so exceptionally beautiful.
The hotel is also not far from Manarola, which can be reached either on foot (30 minutes walk), or by bus (10 minutes drive, frequency 30 minutes).
From there you can start your standard visit to Cinque Terre via train.
Amazing view! We stayed here for 2 nights during our honeymoon. The hotel is on top of the hill overlooking the ocean. The view here is simply breathtaking.
Rooms are good as well with airconditioning. Service was great. If you come by car, ask for reserved parking as you'll need it in order to park your car.
From the hotel you can walk down to Manarola where you can grab the train to the other villages. You can go back up again with the local bus. Staff of the hotel explained everything in detail and provided a nice map, which was really helpful.
The villages are all really beautiful, but can be crowded.
The view over the sea, Manarola and Corniglia is just breathtaking????! Room a bit outdated but was clean and serviced daily. Will definitely return here.
This hotel is in an idyllic location, and the owner’s wife is incredibly welcoming. However, our stay was tainted by a malfunctioning air conditioning. Despite our claims that we hadn’t touched the unit, the owner blamed us, offering only a quick and ineffective ‘fix’. The noisy, non-cooling unit made for a sleepless, sweaty night.
To add insult to injury, after 9 PM, the hotel was devoid of staff, making it impossible to request any assistance or even a bottle of water.
By morning, we chose to leave a day early, having heard that all rooms had similar AC issues. Unfortunately, we were falsely marked as a “no-show” on booking.com, preventing us from leaving a review. When we confronted the owner, his response was aggressive - he became physically threatening, started yelling and cursing and even resorted to throwing objects.
While the location is a definite positive, the poor facility management, lack of night-time service, and the owner’s unprofessional and aggressive conduct marred our experience. I advise potential guests to consider these issues before booking, especially since other reviews that also speak of both a barely working air conditioning and aggressive behavior by the owner.
The hotel is located on a magical hill. The rooms are nice but not great. The town it is incredibly small with only two restaurants and a small market. But if you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the other towns, it is perfect. There is regular bus service to Manarola where you can catch trains and ferry. I highly recommend this little piece of paradise. The views are beyond belief.
