HÔTEL ASTRID ^{* *}

the hotel is situated in the middle of Caen but for those who have a car there is no parking available and you need to either find a car park in town or park on the street outside. There are. few car parks near and parking is free between 7pm and 8.30am the following morning. The trick is to go out for the day, return late, find a parking space and pay at meter until the following morning. ||The staff were very helpful. Rooms were very basic with large beds and small alcoves at the bottom of the bed with a toilet and shower. The alcove is protected by a sliding door and there is a shower curtain. The shower itself can get quite hot and there is soap and shampoo available with plenty of towels. However, there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms so you have to go outside, although there are cafes close by. ||Beds have those small pillows so if there are two of you sharing, it's one small pillow each, so it might not be too comfortable on your head. Surprisingly, there was an ongoing noise around the hotel, like people banging doors occasionally, which is sometimes annoying. However, it's not too bad and there are some lovely restaurants close by. For those with an interest in French food, "One Cutlllerf Carree" is a beautiful place. As you leave the front entrance, the restaurant is on the opposite side of the road and turn right as if to walk to the marina. Absolutely stunning and one of the best places in the city. ||Overall, it did the job and we had no trouble. The staff were very helpful throughout. Finally, remember you will have to pay a city tax of about 5 Euro's a night too.

Hotel Astrid was very clean and very comfortable. And a great location. We loved the owners! They went above and beyond to help with every request we had.
