Visiting this attraction formed part of the Masada and Dead Sea day trip we went on with Being Harim. The route out was interesting as you travelled along the dead sea. It was interesting seeing the sinkholes on our way there.
We got the cable car up to site and then walked round some of the ruins and rebuilds. The tour guide was good and snappy through the relevant bits. It was fascinating learning the significance of this place to King Herod.
However, it is mainly ruins and was a good way to fill out the day to the dead sea, hut maybe not a necessity

A place where culture meets terrible history. Visiting the ruins was great and our guide made a very good job describing the atmosphere at the time. To get there you can either take the switch back trail, also called the Snake Path, or, if you don't feel like walking up, gondolas are available to get to the top.
We took the gondolas as after you get up there you still have quite a bit of walking to do the tour itself.
Most of the ruins were rebuilt in part due to the battle that raged there between the Romans and the Jews. The saddest part for me was the global suicide of the Jews to set them free from the siege to avoid to be enslaved again from the Romans as they were losing the battle. Very emotional city.

The views of the mountains and surrounding dead sea are worth the drive out there, but the structure of Massada is worth the admission. I took the cable car up due to time. The views from the top are spectacular. Lots of information stations all over that inform you of what you are looking at. It is hot up top so take water and a hat.

גן לאומי, עם חשיבות עצומה לעם היהודי.
נכנסנו מכיוון ים המלח, שביל הנחש והרכבל.
יש חניה בשפע ואפילו מקורה.
לשים לב שיש הנחות לסטודנטים.
המקום עדיין רלוונטי,
והכי חשוב המוזיאון ששם נשמרים כל הפריטים ההיסטורים והארכיאולוגוגים שנמצאו שם.
שווה לקחת את, המדריך הקולי שממש ממחיש את הממצאים.

Bien entendu, à ne pas rater ! Il est possible d'y monter et d'en redescendre à pied... Mais il fait chaud en Israël, dans le désert ! C'est immense, très bien aménagé. La visite peut vous prendre des heures. Allez-y donc assez tôt le matin, prenez de quoi vous désaltérer et profitez de tout.

Visite effectuée en juillet 2015, à cette époque de l'année, il est indispensable d'utiliser le téléphérique vu la température.
Si vous souhaitez effectuer l'ascension à pied, vous devez partir très tôt le matin avant la fermeture du chemin.
La vue est splendide et le site vaut le déplacement.

L’ascension est longue, et fatigante (mais il y a aussi un téléphérique), mais quel bonheur de passer la porte de la forteresse est d’être récompensé pour la demi-heure de grimpette. Massada est magnifique, émouvante, vertigineuse.
