LANGLEY RESORT FORT ROYAL ^{* * * *}

L'hôtel est magnifique, le cadre est paradisiaque. Je trouve ca juste dommage que la moitié des employés ne parlent pas français (et ne font pas d'effort pour comprendre notre langue) . Le petit déjeuner est très bon et varié, mais pour le repas du midi et soir quelques entrées et plats mais peu de choix au final(pas de menu enfant compliqué pour eux de trouver )sur 15 jours nous n'y avons pas mangé souvent et pas facile de trouver des restaurants ouverts à la période où nous y étions. Les chambres étaient faites tous les jours l'hôtel est très propre. J'y reviendrai sans souci pour un autre séjour .

Arrival – there was a protest taking place on the road to the hotel, a barricade of pallets and half a dozen protesters. It was simple to divert around the encampment and there was no unpleasantness. I understand that the protest is about the number of local people employed by the hotel. There is a large car park, you then have to walk along a drive to reception which is lit but is poorly maintained with large potholes. It would be better if there was a footpath from the carpark to the reception building. |All of the reception staff were friendly, helpful and bi-lingual. Most of them were locals i.e. from Guadeloupe or other island in the French Antilles. We had a room on the third floor overlooking the beach. The positives were the outstanding view, the large balcony, the large and very comfortable bed, the shower, the effective and quiet AC. The negatives were the lack of storage, particularly the wardrobe which was fine for shirts and trousers but too short for dresses. There are a few drawers, but not enough if you are staying for more than a few days. There is a large armchair which is a bit pointless and just takes up space. There are not enough flat surfaces. |The cleaning was very good with the room cleaned every day. Bedding was changed regularly. There is no kettle, but if you ask for one it will be provided, and you can borrow cups from the restaurant. |The breakfast buffet is extensive; there is plenty of choice. Some of the dishes would benefit from having covers or lids eg. the yoghurt. When the hotel is busy having two staff on duty is insufficient to clear tables and replenish the buffet. Inevitably some buffet items will run out and there may be a wait for them to be replaced. The dining room has open sides and is right on the beach. It is lovely to hear the waves and feel the breeze, the downside is that birds will fly in and if you leave a plate of food unattended and uncovered you may find that they will swoop in. This is easily remedied by placing a napkin over food. |We had dinner at the hotel only when it was difficult to find a local restaurant that was open i.e. Sunday evenings. Sometimes there is an a la carte service and sometimes a buffet, we were never quite sure how it worked. The buffet is relatively expensive, and you may find that you wait for some time for items to be replenished. The menu has a heavy reliance on pizza. |There is a good choice of restaurants in nearby in Deshailles including Chez Lelette, Le Madras (aka Catherine’s Bar), Chez Ernest, Restaurant L’ Amer, Kote Lagon (lunchtime only) & Le Coin des Pecheurs.|The beach bar is good; it is a shame that it had reduced opening hours during our stay. |The beach and the warm Caribbean Sea are amazing. There are plenty of sunbeds, although they are a bit old and uncomfortable. The pool area is spotless with good quality sunbeds and a few umbrellas. | Overall, a good 4 star with great staff; especially Betty and Dorian.|You need a car to explore and to try the amazing local restaurants.

Dolomia et Dorian sont au top au bar ! L’endroit est bien placé, un peu de musique pour l’ambiance. Je vous recommande cette place. N’hésitez plus !

Si quieres privacidad, buena atención y tener una playa a un metro, coge este hotel que es uno de los mejores de guadaloupe.

I fail to recognise the negative |comments! There are French staff who of course speak French. Secondly there are employees from elsewhere within the EU , freedom of travel etc etc.|Everyone was very helpful and super friendly.|We stayed in the hotel.|There were six of us on holiday for three weeks. We all had one small issue on one day with our rooms being uncleaned. Once pointed out a member of staff was sent to sort…at 8 o’clock in the evening !|The pool is very clean with wooden sunbeds and mattresses, and parasols. Pool towels are available. Once used just swap for a clean one!|The beach is immaculate with lots and lots of sunbeds.|The menu is good , but we chose to eat out every evening, as we appreciated the local cuisine.|Remember ..: this is the REAL Caribbean ! If you want a sterilised holiday visit Dubai !|We all absolutely loved it here…Of course there are niggles.One of the security staff had an attitude..: but hey ho! We spoke to the staff on reception …and the problem was solved !
