LA DIVINE COMÉDIE

La Divine Comedie is a wonderful property in the centre of Avignon - a wonderful oasis. It shouldn't be thought of as a hotel, but rather as a luxury bed & breakfast, where the owner still lives in her part of the property. It describes itself as a guest house.||It would be easy to walk past the big, imposing gates without having an impression of what lies behind them.||The staff were friendly and largely invisible.||We stayed in the Anatole Suite on the second (or third floor if you are American). It has lovely views over the garden and is spacious and quiet. It has lovely furniture including a free standing, small bathtub. ||The bed was comfortable. There are sufficient guest plugs to use for all the devices people have. There is a smart speaker in the room, so you can put music on. ||There is plenty of space to put your belongings away. ||The shower had good pressure and the temperature was set on a mixer tap.||There is a mini fridge with free products (water - both still and sparking, orange juice and coca cola). There is a Nespresso machine in the room.||The wifi has a good signal.||The swimming pool in the garden is unheated (at least when we stayed) and there is a jacuzzi in the grounds (not available when we were there).||The communal rooms are full of strange and exotic objects.||Breakfast is a communal experience around a long table, or outside, when weather permits. Breakfast is continental with eggs on offer in the style you want. Coffee is served from a Nespresso machine.||When you return to the house it feels like you are returning to your private home.||We had a lovely, relaxing stay.

Fantastic property - everything, including location, service, rooms are excellent. The garden is serene. Breakfast is very good.

La Divine Comédie is a truly special experience — absolutely gorgeous and unlike any traditional hotel. It feels more like staying in a beautifully curated private residence, yet all the services you’d expect from a high-end stay are seamlessly there.||The design is exceptional, full of charm and individuality — you won’t find anything quite like it elsewhere.||And the garden — it’s the absolute cherry on the cake. Peaceful, lush, and beautifully maintained, it adds something truly magical to the whole experience.||The breakfast is served in a stunning setting, and while the quality is excellent, the selection felt a bit limited — especially if you’re health-conscious or looking for more protein-rich options.||The only real downside was the spa: it’s in a separate small building and access is paid, with just one sauna and steam room.||Still, a memorable and enchanting place — perfect for those seeking something out of the ordinary.
