Carette, der bekannte Teesalon am Trocadéro, hat eine zweite charmante Adresse unter den Arkaden des Place des Vosges. Auf dem Programm stehen Makronen aller Art, eine große Auswahl an Gebäck für ein Schlemmerfrühstück und Patisserien wie diese köstliche Tarte mit zwei Zitronen, der Mont-Blanc mit Baiser und Kastaniencreme oder der Choco Choc, ein Schokoladenzwischengericht. Das Maison Carette bietet auch hausgemachte Kuchen (Schokolade, Pistazie, Zitrusfrüchte...), "Toasts Carette", Brote mit Brioche oder altmodischem Brot mit ihrer hausgemachten Marmelade, aber auch Eis, Sorbets oder auch Crêpes. Am frühen Morgen ist der Ort einfach überwältigend, um einen Kaffee zu trinken, am Ende des Tages ist er erholsam und bei Einbruch der Dunkelheit sehr angenehm. Ein Muss, wenn Sie für ein paar Tage in Paris sind, insbesondere für einen Brunch am Sonntag.

Unfortunately, things started going downhill from the moment we were introduced to our waiter. While I understand that working in the service industry isn’t always easy—having worked in it myself—there’s a basic standard of professionalism that was sorely lacking. Our server, along with several other staff members, was noticeably rude and dismissive. It felt like our presence was more of an inconvenience than anything else.
We ordered the Petit Déjeuner Carette, which included a café au lait, orange juice, a croissant, and a slice of bread with jam. We also shared a toast Carette with ham, scrambled eggs with herbs, and a quiche Lorraine. To drink, we had a regular hot chocolate and a Carette hot chocolate with whipped cream. When our server asked if we’d like fresh berries with the latter, I said yes.
The food itself was quite good—the pastries were flaky, the eggs were well-seasoned, and the hot chocolate was delightfully rich. But no quality of food can compensate for the poor service. At one point, our server literally walked away mid-order without a word, then returned and continued taking it as if nothing had happened. No apology, no acknowledgment—just blatant disrespect. On top of that, the fresh berries we ordered were never brought out. We only noticed the charge on our receipt at the end and had to request a correction.
Final verdict: Carette has the look and feel of a classic Parisian café, and the food is certainly decent. But for the price and the frustrating service, it simply wasn’t worth it. If you’re looking for a cute photo-op or checking off tourist spots, it might be worth a quick visit—but if you value warm, respectful service, my family and I would recommend going elsewhere.
