We did the Living Dunes Tour with our guide Thorsten. They go out with 2 groups in 2 vehicles. Together with the driver of the other group Johnny they made a wonderful team. Johnny would scout out the reptiles and insects. Thorsten told us that Johnny's nickname was "Johnny Walker" because of that. Thorsten provided a wealth of information throughout the tour of all of Johnny's findings plus a great deal of geological and historical information at times in 3 different languages. I nicknamed him "Thorsten Talker" lol. He was super knowledgeable. I absolutely recommend doing this tour and it is definitely worth your time and money!!! The Namib Desert is so beautiful!
A word of caution though. If you have back issues know that the 4x4 ride can be a bit rough especially in the very back row. I had to move to the middle row, which was much better.
Also of course there is no toilet, so be sure to use it before the tour departs.

Uneingeschränkt empfehlenswert! Danke an Frank für einen sehr spannenden und interessanten Tag, an dem wir nicht nur viel sehen konnten, sondern auch viel Infos über das Leben vor Ort, die Natur und das ganze Land bekommen haben! Frank war wirklich super: vielen Dank für!

Our combo experience - Living Dunes in the AM / Welwitschia in the PM - was terrific! Our Living Dunes guides (Emmanuel) were very engaging and shared tons of educational information with us about the dunes and the animals that call them home. Our Welwitschia guide (Frank) was also amazing. He was very passionate about the geology of the Moon Landscape and shared so much information with us. He was also terrific engaging with our 4-year-old son on the tour as well. Highly recommend Charly's!

To see Namibia’s Little Five with such knowledgeable guides was a real treat. They were clearly passionate about preservation of these little creatures and saving the dunes from excess tourism. Also included was a lesson in local geology which was equally fascinating.

Wir haben bei unserem Zwischenstopp in Swakopmund eine Halbtags-Living-Desert-Tour mit Thorsten, Ruth u. a. gemacht. Es war sehr interessant und kurzweilig. Sehr professionell und empfehlenswert!

Frank was a fantastic, funny and enthousiastic guide who knows a lot about all the plants and geology.

A must do if you like to see reptiles and other small creatures. The knowledge they share is great. They share about the history and the geography of Namibia and take you to up the dunes as well.

Best Tour(guide) in 2 weeks Namibia. Joining a safari to see the Big 5 is one thing BUT looking out for the Little 5 with guide Ernst is a totally different experience. Kids could ask ALL questions and we learnt a lot!

Had an amazing tour of the little creatures of the big and oldest desert! Highly recommwnd the living desert tour. Our guides were very informative and found the most amazing desert dwellers. Thwy also explained the importance of protecting the desert.

Erenst of Charlys desert tours is a trove of info about the moon landscape .despite the heat one of the most enjoyable trips taken into the desert .not to be missed.

Living desert Tour war sehr interessant und die Landschaft ist spektakulär. Wir haben einige Tiere gesehen. Unser Guide war sehr professionell und hat viel über die Fauna und Flora des Deserts erklärt

Great tour agency. Guides were very helpful and informative. We didn’t see a great deal during our kayaking tour because of the mist, but that didn’t make our tour any less enjoyable.

The guides were awesome! We didn’t know what to expect because Norwegian doesn’t show any reviews of their excursions. But this was a VERY informative tour. We enjoyed riding around in the air conditioned trucks and stopping around the dunes and seeing the different “animals”. Nick was extremely informative and we learned so much!! I highly recommend Charly’s
