Very disappointed, unprofessional and unfriendly staff. 2200km into Namibia, and first rude people we encounter. Rest were first class in all aspects. Will not recommend.
Betta Campsite is a must stop in Namibia! The family that owns the place is super friendly and welcoming, they will do everything to give you the best experience! The rooms are very beautiful and the overall atmosphere is stunning. They also prepared us very special dinner and breakfast (open to every dietary requirements - I am vegan).
The rooms were vhot and only 1room had a watercooler we all had to sleep in 1 room and there was no fridge and kettle. And since they have satellite phone only 100mb data is free and that too only at reception. It's a doable place for value for money as I get much more facilities in the same price at other places.
Please note: we did not camp here, but we did visit the campsite for future references. Very nice campsites with private ablution facilities, braai place, fresh water, kitchenette, shaded, cement/interlock bricks floors, beautiful nature. Fairly well stocked shop and petrol station.
Spent a night at Betta with our group travelling to Cape Town on Motorcycles.
12 weary, dusty and sweaty people show up and all wanted different drinks, wi-fi password and all but were greeted with a great smile and our requests all taken care of.
The rooms were great, beer is fresh and the shop has plenty of snacks and other items if needed. Had a great night sleep after a sublime dinner.
They have the only petrol station for quite a while so we refuelled before leaving with great memories and well rested. Thank you
Jo welcomed us with a smile and was very helpful throughout our stay. Our campsite was nicely equipped and the bathroom facilities were scrupulously clean with plenty of hot water for a shower. A great place for an overnight stay with an interesting castle up the road.
No prices on any of their items in the shop
They make it up as they go along.
1. On the first day I bought a Russian Roll & Apple cake.
I wanted to put it in 2 paper bags.
The young lady insisted on a polystyrene take away container. okay.
Not my first choice. More plastic
I said I'll pay cash.
It cost: N$110. Ouch. Okay... I paid
2. Next day I come with a plate from last nights dinner. (Who needs more plastic) To get a Russian roll & Apple pie.
R80. Why was it cheaper now?
The young lady, hesitated, & with a dead pan face, said it was for the polystyrene container.
I questioned this.
The mother, I believe, meakly answered:
"it has to be bought in'. Standard phrase.
(She had a demeanour, of someone who "tripped and fell against the door handle', one too many times)
One of those farm wives.
So this miserable container that I didn't want in the first place cost more than a litre of diesel ????
So I turned the other cheek.????
I bought another container for N$30.
I insisted on a receipt.
No can do. I have the card printout though.
I asked to get my dinner in it. why not?
Instead of admitting their 'mistake', or apologising:
The heavy set owner, came to my room & gave me a stern talking to, that I am looking for trouble
He was intimidating.
Guess what:
My dinner got delivered on a side plate!
They still have my bloody N$30 polystyrene container that I paid for!!
So I got scammed 2 times in 2 days.
Just spread the good news!
Hats off to you Betta Camp ????

Oh:
Obviously no wifi for guests
No cell phone reception. Ever. They hadnt had phone reception in years.
Nice place to visit in Namibia. After a long day drive. Nice dinner served and breakfast the next morning before you go. We will visit soon.
Best views!!
Good overnight campsite next to working farm with fuel station, shop, restaurant and some chalets. Although the campsites were full they made a plan next to a chalet, still having our own ablution. Staff and owner were very helpful. Shop was reasonably stocked given the location far from anything.
The not friendly owner has two dogs, one is barking the whole night next to your tent. As an extra service he urinates on your car. There’s also a windmill to keep you awake. Good thing: All facilities are ok, up to Namibia’s standards: toilet, shower, braai, small shop. But it’s the perfect place for a night without sleep.
