ARENAL BACKPACKER'S RESORT

The dorms were muggy and ac wasn’t really doing much. They kick guests out at 10pm.

Great location. Room was clean. Staff went above and beyond

I will start with the positive things:
- comfortable bed
- good location for walking to restos & tours
- aesthetic cylinders for IG pics
- pool looked nice & clean but did not swim because it never stops raining in Fortuna
- good air con
the ugly:
- absolutely no atmosphere, i would not recommend this place to solo backpackers
- the staff is extremely inhospitable, they are not friendly nor helpful. not even a smile when you enter or exit the entrance area, asking for help they act like you’re asking them to perform a chore for you
- the cylinder rooms are cool but not practical at all, there is no where to store your things aside from under the bed which is not accessible and no where to hang all of your damp things (everything you own will be damp in this climate)
- the night bar was open 1/4 nights we stayed and only for an hour or two although it is advertised as being open 6-10pm

Overall i would not recommend staying here

The cylinder rooms were so cool too stay in. The rooms do come with AC but fair warning they can get stuffy inside. Receptionist was very kind. No kitchen besides a small sink and communal fridge. The gentleman working the bar was not fond when we asked for utensils. Location is awesome!

The place has potential. It is nice but not kept up for the price. The staff were not welcoming. Great location but am happy to leave.
